RAZAK'S COUNSELS SUCEEDED IN CREATING DOUBTS
Abd Razak Baginda is a free man. Not quite. Both C/Insp Azilah and Kpl Sirul Azhar were ordered to enter their defence on Friday against the charge of murdering Altantuya near Shah Alam, Selangor, between 10pm on Oct 19, 2006 and 1am the following day. What were their motive(s) of shooting and subsequently blowing up the deceased body to pieces. For fun? Perhaps there's nothing else to do during that fasting month.
Why did the judge acquitted Abdul Razak:
He said there were "exculpatory parts" in Abdul Razak’s affidavit which were corroborated in material particulars by prosecution witnesses P. Balasubramaniam, Burmaa Oyuchimeng, Lans Cpl Rohaniza Roslan and Siti Aishah Mohd Azlan and other surrounding circumstances that have clearly negated and nullified the act of abetment.
He mentioned 14 paragraphs from the affidavit. In gist, these include:
> the part on how DSP Musa Safri had introduced him to Azilah.
> Abdul Razak said he had asked Azilah to assist in increasing police patrols in the vicinity of his home following harassment from Altantuya.
> Abdul Razak had called Azilah on the night of Oct 19, 2006 when Altantuya turned up outside his home again.
> Balasubramaniam informed him that Altantuya had been taken away by three plainclothes police personnel that same night.
> Abdul Razak said he had bumped into Musa the day after and inquired what happened to Altantuya but was informed by the latter that Azilah did not tell him

Altantuya reactions: 'Judgment based on ^ law', says father

SHAH ALAM: Dr Setev Shaariibuu, the father of slain Mongolian beauty Altantuya, refused to discuss the High Court’s decision to free political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda.
“I don’t want to discuss because the judge had made his judgment based on Malaysian law,’’ he said with a stoic face.
Asked about his wife’s reaction to the news, he added impassively: “I did not have time to contact her. I have nothing to say.’’
The 58-year-old, who is the director at the National University of Mongolia’s information and education centre, spoke in Mongolian.
His replies were translated by Siizkhuu Sainbileg, the second secretary to the Mongolian ambassador in Thailand.
Asked whether he would be returning to Mongolia soon, Setev said: “I don’t know whether I will go back soon but I do not plan to stay here long’’.
Setev was called by the prosecution as the second witness to testify in the trial in June last year.
Siizkhuu, who disclosed that Setev had arrived in the country in Wednesday, also declined to comment.
In KUALA LUMPUR, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim wished Abdul Razak Baginda and his family well but said that the Altantuya murder case still had many unanswered questions.
Anwar said that there were many suspicious issues surrounding the case.
“There is a growing perception that the investigation wasn’t done professionally.
“The prosecution had failed to conduct the case professionally from the beginning,” he told reporters at the Jalan Duta court complex on Friday.
Anwar said that there had been changes made to members of the prosecuting team as well as the court and the judge.
“There is a clear motive to cover up,” he said.
He added that this case was particularly of concern as there was new evidence involving Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
“The case is clearly bigger,” he said. Read More “RAZAK'S COUNSELS SUCEEDED IN CREATING DOUBTS” »»
