Daripada 128 projek bangunan sekolah menengah seluruh negara, 58 buah tidak dapat disiapkan mengikut jangka waktu yang dipersetujui.
"From the 128 secondary school building projects nationwide, 58 will not be completed within the agreed time frame" according the Deputy Minister.
Perhaps dear Minister may want to request for more stimulus economic package given to school building projects in order to give incentive to these
main Bumiputra contractors and non-bumiputra subcontractors.
58,000 Students May Not Study In Comfort Next Year
Some 58,000 students who will be placed in 58 secondary schools nationwide next year might not be able to study in comfort, Deputy Education Minister Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi said Tuesday.
He said this was because the appointed contractors had failed to complete the school buildings on time.
"From the 128 secondary school building projects nationwide, 58 will not be completed within the agreed time frame," he told reporters after meeting 200 educationists, here, Tuesday.
Mohd Puad said the government had also identified nine primary school building projects which were behind schedule for various reasons, including financial problems.
He disclosed how a construction company which was given a contract to build 26 schools worth RM300 million, failed to complete 22 of the projects within the given time.
Hence, he said, contracts given to companies which failed to complete the projects soon would be terminated.
"We will not compromise anymore. We have given them enough time. Why should we extend their contracts?
"We have enough evidence that the contractors, with unreasonable excuses, have failed to complete the school building projects within the given time," he added.
