Pemimpin DAP, PAS S'gor bertemu 7 Okt

PAS-DAP meeting to sort out problems in Selangor
PETALING JAYA (Oct 2, 2009): PAS and DAP leaders in Selangor, who have been locked in public verbal tussles via newspapers, will trash out their differences at a meeting on Oct 7.
PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali told a press conference at the party headquarters today that he hoped these leaders will use the mechanism available to resolve problems and differences between themselves internally, and discontinue open public statements made to discredit one another.
He said this should be applied to inter-party differences and that between party leaders as their differences and contradicting statements may result in the perception that there are differences.
Mustafa said he spoke for PAS and it was up to the DAP and Parti Keadilan Rakyat to work towards engaging a similar mechanism at the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) level.
As for the problem in Selangor, Mustafa said: "The central party, be it DAP or PAS, will not interfere with the differences at state level."
He said the question of disciplinary action against Selangor PAS commissioner Datuk Dr Hasan Ali for making public statements without first speaking to coalition colleagues and his counterpart Shah Alam parliamentarian and branch president Abdul Khalid Samad for calling on Hasan to resign for his statements which contradicted PR policies did not arise.
"The central party and the disciplinary committee has not received any letter or report on this matter from anyone," he said, adding that he only heard of plans to refer the duo to the disciplinary committee from the media.
Mustafa said: "Recently there has been a lot of misunderstanding but I think the situation has cooled off."
"The question of PAS leaving the PR coalition in Selangor does not arise at all," he said.
On the Bagan Pinang by-election, Mustafa said while it seems that PAS is entering the polls as the underdog, there are factors that are a boon to the party, just as the Barisan Nasional has it strong points.
From Umno’s point of view, they have chosen one who is strong, but the Pakatan Rakyat wants a candidate who is clean and has integrity, as a foil to BN's candidate, former Negeri Sembilan Mentri Besar Tan Sri Mohd Isa Samad who was punished after he was found guilty of money politics at the party (Umno) level.
Mohd Isa was suspended from the party for three years starting June 24, 2005 for money politicking in the 2004 party elections on appeal.
Earlier, Mustafa said not all of the 5,000 registered postal voters in Bagan Pinang were living in the camps located in the area.
"From our survey, only 1,200 are legitimate Bagan Pinang voters as others have either retired and are considered normal voters, or been transferred to other camps," he said adding that a total of 3,000 officers had retired.
Asked if there would be independent election observers stationed at the postal voting booths he said: "There is some discussion with the EC to allow the candidates' observers into the voting area, but nothing has been finalised yet."
